Analogue Algorithm

RoT S1I. Original Artwork - Oil on Canvas. Framed: W 40.5 " - H 25.5"

Price range: $30.00 through $1,000.00

Set in Toronto’s legendary Massey Hall performance space, Analogue Algorithm captures the moment an AI performer embraces the adoration of a captivated crowd. Cheering fans in a collective wave of emotion applaud as the performer opens to the crowd taking in admiration. Over the decades, this is a scene that has occurred 1000s of times at Massey Hall, but this time it is different. Would you applaud a Humanoid AI in the same way?

Analogue Algorithm raises a question: is our collective love for a performer rooted purely in their ability to entertain, or is it also tied to admiration for their human drive to push the boundaries of talent? What do we cherish most about our favorite performances: the music itself, the person behind the music, or a combination of both? Does this dynamic change when a musician can download the skills needed to create a performance that evokes such cheers? If any robot could be programmed to be a rock star, would that be the death of rock stardom?

Lipstick Protocol

Price range: $30.00 through $1,300.00
Lipstick Protocol captures a moment of self-care and vanity—a ritual tied to human identity—reimagined through the lens of a female-presenting robot. This raises questions: In the future, will there be “female” AI, or only robots programmed to feel that way? Is it not human programming and genetics that shape our sense of gender? Are we so different? The painting examines the evolving nature of identity in a world shaped by technology, encouraging viewers to reflect on the boundaries of consciousness and individuality. The sleek, metallic contours of the AI’s face merge with expressive eyes as it engages in a ritual of self-presentation, an act linked to human self-awareness. Also, what shade of pink goes with metallic cheekbones?

Living in the dream

Price range: $30.00 through $800.00
Living in the Dream explores suburban tranquility through the lens of role reversal, imagining a future where humans provide services to AI and are compensated in return. The painting envisions a world where robots hold authority or financial control, reshaping societal dynamics—bot couples relaxing on their porches after work, discussing the day’s events, while a handyman tends to their perfectly manicured lawn. This challenges assumptions about suburbia, labour, hierarchy, and the evolving relationship between humans and technology.

Ram Rest (R&R) at the Royal

Price range: $30.00 through $1,600.00
Set against the iconic Royal Hotel, in Prince Edward County, an AI humanoid family sits together with their pet dog, observing the flow of everyday life with a sense of quiet detachment. Perhaps lost in internal loops of thought or a simulated daydream, they blur the line between programmed function and moments of introspection. The presence of their pet dog adds a layer of complexity, introducing the idea of AI pet ownership and companionship—an echo of human traditions and interdependence that they appear to have adopted.  The painting’s soft lighting gently illuminates the family, drawing attention to their presence and challenging perceptions of family, curiosity, and emotional depth. Just metres away, two women enjoy coffee together, offering a subtle contrast between human connection and the AI's enigmatic stillness.

Sage on the Stage

Price range: $20.00 through $1,600.00
Sage on the Stage depicts a modern oracle—an AI professor—standing on the iconic stage of Harvard’s Klarman Hall, one of America’s great beacons of excellence for business education, redefining the face of academia. The painting captures a pivotal moment in the evolution of knowledge, where wisdom is no longer rooted in human experience but in circuits and silicon. Dressed in a tailored business suit, the AI represents both scholarly prestige and a bold vision for the future of education with AGI and beyond.  An audience of business professionals and students, captivated by its presence, juxtaposes human curiosity with the unfeeling yet undeniably insightful nature of their guide. Projected on the screen behind the AI are images of powerful figures in capitalist society, alongside a provocative question: “Are we happy yet?” This inquiry challenges the legacy of human ambition, prompting viewers to reflect on the true cost and meaning of progress. What should a business school aim to celebrate? Who and what should drive these conversations? Is business in the business of happiness?

Slow Upload

Price range: $30.00 through $1,500.00
Slow Upload portrays an AI couple immersed in the magic of The Mustang Drive-In—a beloved summer experience in Prince Edward County, where time slows down and intentional living thrives amidst the rush of modern life. The backdrop has a mix of humanoid AI and biological families interacting with the nostalgic exercise of outdoor cinema. The painting addresses a very human luxury of blocking time off to appreciate a film. This painting calls into question what stimuli AI Humanoids would learn from; not to mention how they would show emotional expressions of love. Do robots hold hands? Are they programmed to love or does love drive their programs? Slow Upload sets a scene in which nature’s beauty, the gift of time, the chemistry of romance, and movie-going in general, are examined under the setting sun.

Tanning Oil

Price range: $20.00 through $1,600.00
Set against the backdrop of Prince Edward County's Sandbanks, Tanning Oil celebrates the timeless, human ritual of simply sitting by the shore, basking in the sun, and letting the mind drift with the waves. It captures a quintessential moment of peace—where sand, sun, and water converge to offer a serene, even blissfully boring, escape from the demands of life. The scene invites a curious thought: if integration between humans and AI continues to deepen, would robots, gifted with increasing autonomy, also yearn for such seemingly idle pleasures? Do robots need “me time” ? Is sitting by the water, enjoying the sun, and letting thoughts drift healthy for a robot’s state of being? Are sandy joints worth the sit?

The Art Conductor

Price range: $30.00 through $1,200.00
Titled The Art Conductor, this painting examines the symbiotic relationship between humans and AI in a reimagined creative process. At the centre stands the "Art Conductor," orchestrating the creation of fine art paintings through collaboration with humanoid symphony performers.  The creator is both human and humanoid, their dialogue forming the foundation of innovation and artistry. This work reflects HoMA's vision of blending the creative potential of technology with the tradition of human fine art, forging a new path for how inspirational art is made.  The Art Conductor is the human in the loop, driving the creation of new art through the right relationships with humans and humanoids. This new approach to creating quality art has become a living reality through The House of Modern Art.

Third Space Invaders

Price range: $30.00 through $800.00
Third Space Invaders encourages the viewer to observe a quiet contrast between the human and the artificial, set against the vibrant backdrop of a playground—an ultimate third space where children forge bonds, explore, and imagine. Two humanoid figures sit in companionship and familiarity of those close, while a young onlooker regards them with curiosity, subtly questioning the scene’s naturalness. Are these figures mothers, nannies, or simply friends? Their presence raises questions about the future of such deeply human spaces: does artificial intelligence disrupt the organic rhythm of these moments, or is it destined to become part of them? Blurring the lines between humanity and technology, the painting invites us to reflect on whether these interactions will enhance or diminish the authenticity of life’s simple, shared spaces.
